Will you download the NHS contact tracing app?

The author of a study into the NHS contact tracing app has said the final version is “much better” than the previous version in terms of privacy.

Speaking with talkRADIO’s Ian Collins, Caroline Wiertz said: “They have chosen the option that shares the least possible amount of data and if anybody is concerned that the government is going to track your data, they’re not going to do that.”

People in England and Wales are being asked to download the app from today following months of delays in its developments.

It uses Bluetooth to keep an anonymous log of people a user has been close to and if someone reports falling ill, the system will notify the people who have been in close contact with that person.
